Open Diagnostics Ecosystem Event (May 10, 2022)

The Open Diagnostics Ecosystem would like to invite you to the very first Open Diagnostics Ecosystem Event, which will take place on May 10th (from 15.00-18.00h). The program of this event will be all about the future of diagnostics, the open diagnostics ecosystem of the northern Netherlands and of course novel diagnostics within our region. The location of this event is Camera 4, Forum Groningen (Nieuwemarkt 1, Groningen).

Program

  • 14:30 Doors open

  • 15:00 Word of welcome by Ronald Hesse (chairman of the day)

  • 15:05 Open Diagnostics by Ton Vries
What is Open Diagnostics and ”What’s in it for you?”

  • 15:15 Future Diagnostics, Mike Martens (RvA)

Many key trends are fuelling the global in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) Market growth with increases of chronic and infectious diseases, and a rise in the geriatric population is pushing towards more rapid tests at the bedside. Also, advances in molecular diagnostics and personalized medicines are becoming increasingly linked to diagnostic testing, not to mention the need for speed for delivering real-time results.

  • 15:50 Universiteit Leiden, Prof. Dr. Matthias Barz

The therapeutic efficiency of targeted nanomedicines (e.g. polymer therapeutics, polymer protein conjugates) is closely related to their enhanced accumulation at the target site, wich depends on disease pathology and target receptor expression, and requires clinically applicable imaging tools. Therefore, the directed development and clinically translation of nanomedicines requires information on the biodistribution and target accumulation.

  • 16:25 Certe, Albert Wolthuis (RvA)
Medical laboratory diagnostics from health to sickness: what is happening
Health data will become more available on a larger scale. The use of data during someone’s health-continuum reaches a new level with artificial intelligence and the development of machine learning algorithms. Analysing data obtained during good health can give
valuable information that can be used to diagnose sickness on an individual level. With these developments it is also interesting to see how we are able to interpret results without having a (patho)physiologic explanation. We are entering an interesting era in which
    laboratory diagnostic will change fundamentally.

  • 17:00 Examples of Novel Diagnostics by Reperio and Linic Ventures
Reperio and Linic Ventures will tell about their current developments.

  • 17:20 Wrap up by Ton Vries

  • 17:30 Drinks
